LIKES coordinates two national programs:

Fit for Life Program

Fit for Life program inspires adults over the age of 40 to include physical activity in their daily routines.

The Fit for Life (KKI in Finnish) is a national program that creates physical activity services that are easily available and close to the middle-aged and senior population. KKI aims to strengthen cooperation and networking between organizations operating in health enhancing physical activity. Local projects can apply for funding from KKI programme, which is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. LIKES has coordinated the program since 1995.

Finnish Schools on the Move Program

Finnish Schools on the Move:
Increasing physical activity and decreasing sedentary time among school-aged children

Finnish Schools on the Move is a national action programme aiming to establish a physically active culture in schools. Schools and municipalities participating in the programme implement their own individual plans to increase physical activity during the school day.

Finnish Schools on the Move programme is one of the key projects in the field of knowledge and education in the Government Programme of Finland.

A two-year pilot phase of the project was launched in 2010. In 2016, programme has broadened to more than 70% of comprehensive schools. Programme is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. LIKES coordinates the programme, evaluates the operations of schools and municipalities, and conducts scientific research.
